I can’t help but wonder what it was really like for Mary to become the mother of Jesus, God incarnate. What an honor she was given!
Once upon a time, way back in the 1900s – the 1970s and 80s to be exact – a young girl who loved babies dreamed of growing up and having babies of her own. Her dreams included boy babies and girl babies. Often those childish dreams were detailed enough to specify a certain order for their births and usually involved a set of twins somewhere along the line.
Sometimes mornings bring with them difficult moments, difficult news. Sometimes you wake up to discover that something unexpected happened while you were asleep. Sometimes you are greeted with news you weren’t prepared for, and sometimes it is the news that God has called one of his people home to heaven.
Morning people. Those people. You know, the kind of people who, even without a habitual jolt of caffeine, effortlessly manage to prance around well before the sun is peeking over the eastern horizon chipperly singing. The people who feel it is their God-given duty and calling to rouse those around them out of their sleepy-time lethargy and grumpiness with an enthusiastic “Rise and shine!”
Two friends who have spent the last 7 years together on bleachers, in Bible Studies, and in classrooms are now coming together for this writing effort. Since we both have a love for writing, we realized ‘together’ was definitely better than ‘alone’. While a blog was never the goal or dream for either of us (I mean, for real! Blogging wasn’t even a thing 20 years ago), here we are, doing what might be the first of more “steps” in the writing journey.
